Umngazana lies just 37kms from Port St Johns on South Africa’s Wild Coast. Experience some of the most pristine coast line South Africa has to offer combined with the added benefit of the Umngazana river mouth and flourishing estuary with plenty of fish and an unspoiled canvas to explore. Whether you are an avid fisherman or just needing a tranquil setting to unwind, Down Town cottage run by Dambayi, is the perfect place to be. Catering for families and fisherman of all ages, the ocean, a stones throw from the cottage, provides a haven of crystal, azure water to snorkel and enjoy the marine packed rock pools. Dolphins and whales are plentiful in the area and provide spectacular displays for all to see.
The Lodge is situated on the hillside overlooking the Umngazana Estuary close to the mouth. The newly built “Down Town Cottage” consists of a two bedroom house with large living area and full facilities. This house has a room with a double bed, with ensuite bathroom and one room with two single beds, also ensuite. There are many couches in the living area which can be utilized as well. Alongside the main house there is a second rondavel (8 sleeper) fitted out with bunk beds. Lastly there will also be a tented camp (currently being built) which will sleep 4. These two areas will share a communal kitchen and braai area.
Main Cottage: R650 per night (R300 for 2 people)

Dambayi is happy to offer his services for a guided hike, but the coastline can also be explored by the avid trail runner with clear paths of both single track and jeep track to follow.
With 3 resident pairs of Fish Eagle right on the Estuary, it is a good start to finding an array of bird life in the area. Requests can be made for Dambayi to take you for a gentle meander up the estuary in search of bird species.
